The Police are suspicious that Swart, I lie fanner, who resisted' arrest, could not have, done all the shooting. Another sergeant of police lias been found on the veldt, making ted victims.
Swart had been n't, bay since Wednesday. The Police commandant wrote advising him to surrender. Swart replied that be was willing to discuss the suggestion, but advising the Police not to come after six o’clock ns lie bad decided to shoot on sight after six.
The Police knew bis preparations and when they arrived at dawn they met a fusil a do' from natives posted around the Kraal. Swart threatened beforehand to shoot his enemies, including his wife, from whom lie was separated.
