CHICAGO, 18th Dee.
A lone bandit walked into n department. store among the throngs of excited Christmas buyers yesterday and scatterer “torpedoes” under their feet. He escaped with £2750 in the resulting pandemonium, hut, lie could not stem the tide of thousands of shoppers jamming the sidewalks. fie threw of! his coat, containing the loot, into tlu* faces of his pursuers, blit a policeman finally pounced on him, and to-night his finger-prints led to his return to serve a seven years’ term in Joliet Prison, from which he recently escaped.
