Truscott—yesterday won the final of the Auckland Bowling Centres Christmas tournament, It- is noteworthy that Truscott also won the championship in 1922, and on that occasion had Clarkson arid Ball in his team. Yesterday the title holders met Wyatt, Kirk, Cater, and P. J. Scantleburv (Auckland), and defeated them 23 to 14 at Epsom green, under difficult playing conditions.
AUSTRALIAN RINK FOR DOMINION TOURNAMENT
AUCKLAND, This Day.
A team of Australian bowlers to compete in the Dominion championships next week arrived bv the Marama_ this morning. Mr \Y. Swain, the skip, staled that the rink consisted of essentially fast green players, and he realised that there may lie considerable difference between the Auckland and Melbourne turf. They Lad had a long snell of dry weather in Melbourne, hut hoped to adapt themselves to existing New Zealand conditions. T( was comforting to have a week s practice before the tourney. Mr Swain is the winner of twelve club championships, and two years ago was niriner-up for the Australian title.
UNUSUAL INCIDENT
An unusual incident occurred at St. ITrliers in the Christmas Rowling tourney. Tn the ciilical stage ol a game an Auckland Club team was lending Reamera by one point on the nineteenth head. Auckland’s lead drew a toucher, hut Remnera’s No. 2 rested it out. As the kitty lay with two rival howls each only inches away, it appeared to the contestants that Auckland would, on the official measure, gain the verdict, but, as they stooped over, Auckland’s No. O dropped his pipe,. It fell on the Remuera howl and deflected it Hie merest fraction, giving that, side the shot.
