YACHT CAPSIZES IN OLD ENTRANCE
OCCUPANTS CLAMBER INTO DINGHY
VESSEL SINKS BUT REFLOATED BY PILOT STAFF,
The eighteen foot yacht "Anawera” capsized in the old entrance near the Arrow rock at 11.20 qn Sunday morning. The vessel is owned by Mr T. Lessells', of the Wood. He,' his brother and Mr A! Littlejohn were on the vessel at the time. They were 1 lying becalmed when the gusty south-east wind, which came up about that time, caught them, the main sheet would not. run for some reason and the vessel turned over.
The occupants .were all thrown into the water. They swam for a dinghy which they, were fortunately tawing, and < clambered aboard. The yacht soon commenced to sink, hut a line was made fast to her peak and her whereabouts under the water thus kept in view. She gradually drifted in, with the incoming tide and was later secured and refloated by Messrs Morrison and Wheatley. The occupants were none the worse for their unenviable experience. The Anarewa, formerly the Victory, wa9 at-one'time owned by Mr Joe Molamo who took great interest in sailing races in Nelson some twenty 'or thirty years ago. Later Mr-Molanio secured the Rose, by which vessel he attained a greater measure of success.
