5 The Daily Express Paris correspondent says a Belgian spy who betrayed a number of Frenchmen and Belgians to the-Germans) was -recognised dramatically iii a Paris Court. “That is the Wretch!” cried-out Georges, a French customs officer, when La-perre, a Belgian accountant, came to the dock on a charge of swindling., “He betrayed six of us. Let.'mb-'g'eU’a'tbhTm,- I’ll strangle him.”
’Pile police' prevented' Lapecre, who burst into tears arid said: “I confess; but .the .Germans promised my life if I agreed.”
'The spy had been doing espionage work for Britain, but was betrayed by a woman spy and sentenced to death. The Belgian . authorities that Laperre was sentenced to deaili in default in 1921 for denouncing Frenchmen and Belgians, of which ten were shot.
