RICHMOND BOROUGH COUNCIL
FORTNIGHTLY MINTING
The fortnightly meeting of the Richmond Boi.'riiigli Council was held on Tuesday June Bth. There were present: The Mayor, Crs. Cross, Kelly, Lusty, Webby, Alunt/., arid Price. Accounts amounting to £152 15s Id were passed for payment. Correspondence was dealt, with as follows:—From L S. Lipseornbc, wanting information of the condition.-; of this Council's oiler for strip of laud.—Resolved that Lipscombe be communicated with, confirming the Council's offer, and that it is clear of all expenses. From F. 1. Ledger in reference to tracing of part Sec. 26 Waim'ea East, and inquiring what the position is in regard to the proposed subdivision of Lots 1,2, 3, Section 65, and if it has ever been submitted to this Council for provisional approval.—Resolved that Mr Ledger be informed the plan of part section 26 is not in the hands of the Council and that plan of Lots 1,2, 3, section 65. has not been before the Council.
The report stated that the ditch in Salisbury Load had been cleaned out below MeMurtry's right-of-way, [l2ft. of decking has been replaced on the western end of the culvert and two new stringers. Timber has been ordered for renewal of the balance of decking and two more stringers. Road parings on Lower Queen Street have been carted to the tip. Three drives have been put in the hill at Beatsoirs Gully. The bwnci of right-of-way in Gladstone Road, will leave the matter of fence repairs with the Council, and is prepared to pay portion of the cost if the fence is to be renewed.
Resolved the Reserves Committee report on the fence in the right-of-way at next meeting. From resident of Wcnsley Hill, drawing the attention of the Council to drainage in the vicinity.—That the mailer be referred to the sanitary inspector. Cr. Kelly reported on the probable reason of so many electric globes being destroyed, the writer stating that variation of the circuit and vibration of the lamp post would tend to destroy the filament, and recommended the trial of two well known globes; also on the extension of a water main to property in Upper Queen Street, it would require 15 chains of pipes and Hie labour of laying.—Resolved the applicant be informed that the Council are prepared to extend the water service on condition he pays one third of the cost. Cr. Munfz, one of the councillors who journeyed to Blenheim to view the trial of the MeCormicy "Peering tractor and Gilbert grader at work, reported on the work, done by this machine, and was iontl in praise of the courtesy and attention given to ail the councillors by the officers and others of the Blenheim Council. Crs. Cross, Lusty and Kelly
also spoke of the work done by the machine. Resolved Hint A. Fowler be appointed Borough ranger at'the same remuneration as tihe former ranger.. The Council went into committee to get report on trial of grader, and on resuming, Cr. Muntz. gave notice of motion for next meeting; after which the meeting closed at 10.30 p.m.
