ON THE BENCH
A WOMAN JUSTICE OF THE PEACE (Unftod Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. For the first lime in the history of Christchurch there was a woman Justice of tin* Penct* on the Bench at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. She was Mrs I). Lamb, wife of Commissioner Lamb, director of immigration for tin* Salvation Army, who is visiting Christchurch on an Empire lour. When Mr H. A. Young. S.M.. took liis seat on tin* Bench he war accompanied hv Mrs Lamb and before the proceedings started he said that Mrs La nth was a Justice of the Peace in England and had had several years experience. As an officer of tin* King she had rendered very valuable service and he had asked her to sit with him to see how matters were conducted in this part of the world. The visitor took a great interest ii: the eases that came before the Court and frequently she conversed with 11 1«* Magistrate.
