SEIZED SWEEP MONEY
WHO WILL GET IT?

The police are puzzled what to do with £l6O seized in Freeman's office in connection with the New Zealand sweep. The money appears destined to go into the Government, revenue, hut the question is whether the New South Wales or .the New Zealand Government should get it. 'the police state that it is impossible to return the money to tho hundreds of people in New Zealand who sent for-tickets, as letters came from all parts of the Dominion. It is also questionable if the money would ho claimed as it is illegal to participate in sweeps and lotteries in New Zealand, and buyers of tickets would hardly be likely to claim the money. The police are waiting advice from the New Zealand authorities before they take any ad ion.
