LIGHTNING STRIKE

AT RUBBER WORKS

SYDNEY, This Day. A lightning strike occurred" at the Drummoyne works of the Perdriau Rubber Company, when 32 engine drivers and firemen ceased work and the night shift refused to go on. Some weeks ago representatives of the engine drivers and firemen's association waited on the management and requested an average increase in wages of seven shillings weekly. They were asked lo put their claim in writing, which they did and as no reply has been received the men decided to cease work. About 1100 employees are affected.
