WOMAN’S TERRIBLE PLIGHT
ALLEGED STARVATION BY HUSBAND

In consequence of an anonymous letter, the police visited the chateau of Charles Soler, litterateur and explorer, at Chateney-en-France, Poinloise, and found Madame Soler lying in the topmost room, the door of which was chained and padlocked. She was shockingly emaciated and told the police a pitiful story. She alleged she had been confined for two years by her 'husband, who demanded that- she should make a will in his favour. Eventually she yielded under threats. She now charges her husband oi attempting to kill her by slow starvation.
The woman certainly appeared to he a living skeleton. She saw no one but her husband’s secretary. Mademoiselle La Plange, who unlocked the door to the police, only it is alleged, under protest. Madame Soler was taken to the hospital and the husband and Mademoiselle Charged with sequestration and violence.
