SV NOD'"STILL DELTBER A TING CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. The deliberations of the Synod which is at present engaged in the important task ot ehosing the bishop for the Dioces cot’ Christchurch have advanced somewhat, and at- the present stage there are indications that the final decision will be reached shortly. The various nominations submitted are in the process of being pared down until a certain number of names are lelt. When a particular person has been decided upon as being the most suitable tj> fill the office, the Conference will adjourn until the next regular meeting of the Sync.il, which takes place tomorrow morning, when the formal nomination will he made in private. 'J he invitation will be sent to the individual concerned and it will depend upon his distance from Christchurch or from New Zealand as to how long it will be before a reply is received. The" Synod wiV adjourn again until that reply has been obtained and, if acceptance is advised, the Synod will not resume. On the other hand, if a refusal is forthcoming, the Synod will resume its deliberations.
