500 CHYRSANTH EMU MS TO BE EXHIBITED A DOMINION RECORD Anticipations that tins years autumn show of the Nelson .Horticultural Society would establish a refut'd in chrysanthemums have been fully realised, and entries have come in in sudli numbers as to justify the claim that Nelson this year will put up the biggest display of chrysanthemums ever seen in New Zealand." It is doubtful if any show in the Dominion has ever even approached the 500 mark, which lias been achieved here. r l his boom in chrysanthemums is undoubtedly due to tbf. formation of the Chrysanthemum Club, and shows vvliat can he done by specialist- clubs. The season has been favourable for chrysanthemums and the blooms will he shown Tn excellent condition. and of immense size. Several new varieties will he staged, while older favourites will he shown - in grand form. 'The fact that in some classes there are as many as twelve entries is an indication of the keenness oi the compel il ion. While chrvsanllienni.ms will, of course, lie the outstanding feature, there are other sections which will prove interesting and attractive, such, as pot plants, miscellaneous cut flowers. decorative exhibits, fruit and vegetables. In view of the large entries it is essential that an early start he made with the judging, and exhibitors are informed that they must lhavc their exhibits staged by 11 o'clock. Thp show will he, opened to the public at 2.30 to-morrow afternoon and will continue open till Thursday night. A ladies’ oommitlee is carrying out an extensive scheme of hall decoration. There wil!_ lie a working bee at the Drill Hall this evening, when a good muster of the committee is hoped for to assist in the preparations.
