DOUBLE SUICIDE

MAN AND GIRL

INVERCARGHjL, Dec. 29

A girl named Mary McKenzie (14), and a man named Andrew Sands (23), residing at Hedgehope, disappeared on 13th December. Search was made in various parts of the distric, and their bodies found on Sunday evening m Dunsdale Stream, near Hedgehope. At tho inquest, Mary- McKenzie, mother of the deceased girl, said that her daughter left homo on tho evening of 13th December, after being chastised on returning from a message to Sands. Ambrose Jesse Sands said that the girl sopped -a his house on 13h December, and also on 14th December. On the following morning she left the house about 7 o’clock, accompanied by his son, and neither were seen again unt.:l their bodies were recovered. ,

A police .constable said that he proceeded to Dunsdale and recovered the bodies. Sand’s arms were round the girl, and his wrists were tied together with a piece of her dress. The bodies were in that position when discovered. A verdict of suicide was returned.
