AURORA SAILING CLUB
Oil Saturday afternoon the Club held a handicap race for a' trophy presented by W. Besley. The weather conditions were all that could ho desired. An Mijoyable afternoon was spent by patcoils of the club, to whom iady members dispensed afternoon tea. A steady north-easterly wind prevailed, and eight boats crossed the line at 3 p.m. from a flying start, making a pretty picture, as they ran for the leeward mark, Anarewa, closely pressed by Thetis, finished first. The finishing times of the competing craft are as follow : Anarewa (sor.) 3h. 57m., Ist;. Thetis (scr.) 3h. 57m. 455, 2nd; Kewpie (12m.j, 4h. 10m. 35., 3rd; Wave (2m.) 4h. 3m. 305., 4th. Iron Duke (10m.) 4h 13m. 155., Barnacle (6m.) 4h. 9m. 155., Sappho (scr.) 4h. 4m. 30s. The Vamp was disabled, and the Foam did not start. i
In the sailing dinghy ; race Popper won on time, the following being the remit, one round of course only: Popper (lm.), time 38m. 305., Ist; Naiad (scr.), time 37m. 305., 2nd ; Mascotte (5m.), time 49m. 455., 3rd. On Wedensday evening, 26th November, the club will hold a. dance in the Sea Scouts’ Hall, particulars of which are advertised in this evening’s issue.
