CORRESPONDENCE

CO-EDUCATION

To the ■'Sditor.)

Sir, —The opinion so admirably expressed by the medical men of Nelson some months ago upon this question, has now received the most emphatic support fiom Professor John Adams,- the leading English educational authority. As quot? ed in the Otago witness of 12th August, the professor says “Children under the age of 12 are better under women teachers, hut after that girls should be taught by women, boys by men.” This authoritative statement should help, to: check the introduction of Yankee methods into our schools. Under ordinary circumstances, one would expect some comment from the chairman of our local Education Board, who treated the opinion of the medical men with contempt, -apparently we shall have to content ourselves with placing this sound opinion on record.—l am etc., AUNTIE MAGGIE.
