The Police Offences Amendment Bill now before Parliament aims at unpirns ing the .machinery of the Act. It gives a, wider definition of public place. At present the law is not clear with regard to riotous behaviour and'this matter the Bill endeavours to clear lip. Heavy penalties fur the unlawful use of motor cars is provided and it is proposed that naval ratings arrested for drunkenness mav be delivered to the ship. The practice at present is without authority. Wrestling contests are to be subject 'to police supervision.
