THE SESSION

GOVERNMENT’S PROGRAMME WELL AHEAD (From our Parliamentary Correspondent) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government’s programme of work for tho session is well ahead. Eight Government Bills have been brought down, and it is practically certain that the Budget will make its appearance early next week. As a matter of fact the Prime Minister indicated in the House yesterday and in replying to a deputation to-day, that he will be in a position to present the Financial Statement on Tuesday night. “So far as our finaces are concerned.” said Mr Massey to the deputation, “and I had proof of it yesterday, our credit stands the highest of any country within tlie Empire (applause). All the same, it requires careful bundling. T will have something good to say on Tuesday evening on the Financial Statement.”

If the Budget does come down on Tuesday it will be, introduced earlier than is usual.
