GALE AT PALMERSTON NORTH

(United Press Association.)

PALMERSTON N., June 25

A heavy gale yesterday stripped the sheet iron from tlie spire of Broad Street Methodist Church. As the iron came hurtling to the ground it narrowly missed a local resident who was attending to a motor-cycle in the yard of a house adjoining the church property. The man beat a hurried retreat to the washhouse just before tlie iron was blown ovci* the building. Other damage, not of a serious nature, was done. The gale considerably abated to-day.
