It was also the intention to include five members oi the press gallery, there being no cheaper way of advertising than through the press. The delegation would be absent fivo or six weeks.

NEW ZEALAND SECTION

A cablegram has been received by the Government from the High Commissioner (Sir James Allen) with reference to the exhibits in the New Zealand section of the British Empire Exhibition. The High Commissioner states that the refgrigerator section should have been ready in time but for the failure of the Exhibition authorities to supply electric power. The restaurant was ready for t,he opening. The failure with regard to the secondary industries was due to the cases for the exhibits not being ready, and also in the opinion of the manager, t,o the delay in the completion of the building. The present position, states the High Commissioner, Is that the refrigerator section display—meat, butter, and cheese __is excellentj comparing more tlmn favourably with the Canadian and Australian sections. The display of apples is good- Fish only recently arrived, and raw wool Is good. * The secondary industries exhibits aro poor, and with the exception possibly of woollens, the display is unworthy of New Zealand. Exhibits of seeds, kauri gum, and minerals are very disappointing.
