NELSON MOTOR CYCLE CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Nelson Motor Cycle Club (incorporated) was held on Tuesday evening. There "was a large attendance of members, Mr A. E. f Davies, president, in the chair. The annual report presented by the President stated inter alia :—ln December of last year a meeting was called to consider the revival of the club. It was decided to form a new club, to be incorporated and to hold a race meeting on the first- available date. Much enthusiasm was shown, by motor cyclists generally, and at each subsequent meeting the membership continued to grow. Membership at the present time stands at 80 odd. In January the Wakefield members held a gmykhana, which provided a' good afternoon’s sport. A number of town members journeyed to Wakefield and there was a good attendance of the general public. In Febriia’rv: the Club held a social run to Takaka, Onakaka iron works and Tarukohe cement works. The outing was thoroughly enjoyed by all the members participating. Much hard work had been done in preparation for the race meeting set down for the 15th March. Unfortunately, the meeting had to be posstponecl until the 22nd owing to wet weather. Saturday, the 22nd, proved a beautiful day and the races proved a huge successs. The attendance was one of the largest yet seen on the race course. The financial result of the race meeting was gratifying, but owing to the expense of running a meeting the credit balance was not as large as-an-ticipated. Receipts from all sources totalled £398, exjonditure £317, leaving a credit balance of £Bl, which will be a considerable help to the club to finance the next race meeting. At Easter the Marlborough Motor Cycle Club issued invitations to the Christchurch Pioneer Motor Cycle Club and to this club to attend - four days’ social activities,. which included a run to the Jordan (■-10 miles), a trip down the Sounds, and smoke concerts. Several Christchurch and many Nelson members iourneyed per motor cycle to Blenheim to this gathering, which was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The committee have in hand the matter of a suitable date and a New Zealand championship for the next race meeting. Members are requested to obtain as many new members as possible and give the club every assistance to make the ensuing year a very successful one.
