MURDER OF ITALIAN DEPUTY
PUBLIC SHOCKED (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, June 16. The Times Rome correspondent states that Fascists are now definitely accused of kidnapping Deputy Matteotti, newspapers pointing out that. Matteotti was krfown to he in possession of certain information relating to State contracts which he intended to disclose in Parliament. Had he done so it 'is stated tho the cause of Fascism would have been seriously compromised. No crime in recent years has so shocked the public, says the correspondent, who declares that according to private "information given to certain deputies Matteotti was first stabbed and then buried in the wood, which the police, are now guarding.
“FASCISM ON TRIAL”
ROME, June 16. There is much excitement at the fate of Deputy Matteotti. Public opinion considers Fascism is on its trial. Signor Mussolini says he is determined to bring tho instigators of the outrage to justice. Several Fascists have been arrested, including the editor of a Romo newspaper who was caught attempting to escape on a north bound express. Two minor members' of the Mussolini Ministry have resigned as their names have been 1 mentioned in connection with the outrage and they wish to defend themselves.
