THE FLEET

PREPARATIONS AT SYDNEY

(By Electric Telegraph,—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Catue Association.)

SYDNEY, April 8. The weather outlook for Fleet Day to-morrow is parlous. General heavy rain is falling over the State. The city is in a sloppy condition. Drenching showers are alternating with short spells of fair weather. The copious bunting already decorating many buildings is bedraggled. Business people arc making a generous response to the administrative committee’s appeal to illuminate premises. Sydney i s overflowing with country visitors, who are still pouring in despite the unpromising wealehr outlook. Every preparation is forward for massing the people on the harbour and foreshores for the squadron’s arrival at ten in the morning. SYDNEY, This Day.

Weather prospects for the arrival of the fleet are brightening, though rain is forecasted.

ARRIVAL IN GLORIOUS WEATHER

SYDNEY, This Day

The fleet arrived in glorious weather and was tumultuously greeted by vast crowds assembled on the cliffs approaching the Heads and the, foreshores of the harbour. The latter was swarmed with all descriptions of craft, all heavily laden with sight-seers.
