In the course of his opening address at the B.M.C. ot Manchester Unity of Odd fellows this morning, the Grand Master (lire. \V. IT Gahagati) said: — "On Saturday last, April Mb, 1 had the. honour In unveil the monument erected, in the Kamt'i Cemetery, Wellington, to perpetuate the memory of the late Grand Secretary. Rio. John Kershaw. The large gathering present included representatives from all districts in the New Zealand branch, and was evidence of the far-reaching influence the life and work of Bro. Kershaw fiad upon the members of (he Society. P.G.M. Bro. F.-W. Wall, who had a very close association with Bro.' Kershaw during the war period delivered an address and eulogised the services rendered the Society hv the late brother. P.G.M Bro. John McLeod, who, with the late Grand Secretary, did the spade work in connection "with the formation of the New Zealand branch, also addressed the gathering, and his remarks were full of praise for the work done by his late colleague. Other speakers were the Deputy Grand Master, ‘Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, and Bro. T. Fathers of the Independent Order of Rcehabitcs (representing kindred societies). The Rev. J. G. Chapman offered prayer and also gave a short address. The monument, which has been erected by subscriptions from all the members of the New Zealand branch, is a fitting tribute to Iho memory of one who so loyally served the New Zealand branch and endeavoured to carry out the highest aims of the Society" to which he was so proud to belong.”
