CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
CONFERENCE AT AUCKLAND
(United Press Association)
AUCKLAND, This Day. About 40 Dominion delegates attending the conference of the Nevv Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce were accorded a civic reception by the Mayor (Mr Gunson). In his presidential address opening the business of the conference, Mr 11. W. Hudson said that compared with two or three years ago prices for our wool and the bulk of our meat showed distinct improvement. Butter and cheese bad shown considerable variation in price and for the present season prices appeared to be at a fairly high level. Experts in the dairy produce trade had, however, deemed it advisable to utter a word of warning. They expressed grave doubts whether these prices can be maintained during the next few- years. The Dominion’s internal trade had been far from buoyant during the past twelve months and importers would be well advised to observe caution.
