(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association)
NEW YORK, Aug. 27
The Australian team engaged in its first practice at Forest Hills since its arrival from Boston. All the men are in good, condition and their form is good. The American Davis Cup team is also engaged in practice for the finals, which will be played on 31st August and the Ist and 3rd of September.
American sporting experts, commenting on the. Australians’ chances of winning tho Cup, declare that Anti'arson is playing the best tennis of bis career ,and when he as playing up to form he is a dangerous opponent Vtr any man. There is considerable opinion that the Australians arc likely to repeat their last year’s performance in the doubles, since the American team has no tried doubles pair.. It is virtually certain that Tilden and Richards will not b b paired, and Williams and Richards have never played together.®
