OAMARU BY-ELECTION

CHRISTCHURCH. April 2
Mr H .E. Holland, labour Leader, states that the question of running a Labour candidate for the Oamaru seat is entirely in the hands of the Oamaru branch of the party, and that the Christchurch conference has nothing to do with it.
MR MACP.HERSON TO BE A CANDIDATE DUNEDIN, This Day. Mr J. A. Macpherson, whose election for Oamaru has been nullified, made the following statement last night:—"l shall definitely contest the Oamaru seat, and 1 wish to give an emphatic denial to a rumour that. I had been approached to stxnnl down in favour of Sir Joseph Ward. The Labour Council of Oamaru will not put up a candidate, and candidature m the Labour interests would bo instigated only through the Reform Party.”
