GATHERING OF OLD AND YOUNG
Ideal weather favouspd the fourth annual sports meeting, held in the Memorial Park, yesterday afternoon. Thisevent, which is of local Interest, attracted the usual good gathering. The sports included school competitions, apple-pack-ing, case-making, throwing the hammer, slow bicycle race, nail-driving and sheep guessing competitions. Tlie afternoon tea booth and produce stall were well patronised, and the takings from these considerably helped the funds. The new asphalt tennis courts were open for play, and many enthusiasts indulged in the game. During the past three seasons the proceeds have been devoted to the Memorial Park fund But on this occasion a proportion will go towards paying off the debt on the tennis courts. The gate takings amounted to £l2 10s. The ground is situated near the Jubilee Bridge, and is pleasantly placed in tlie centre of the picturesque valley. The following are the results:—
