They lie on the road and challenge would-be purchasers of, cloth to walk over them. Following excesses resulting from the action of the authorities to meet the situation non-co-opera-tors’ leaders ordered a cessation of picketing. . Negotiations between the Commissioner and Akali leaders give promise of a settlement of the trouble. Altogether 1700 Akalis have been arrested since the trouble started.
