SOUTHLAND DEFEAT AUCKLAND INVERCARGILL, This Day. Southland defeated Auckland by 21 to 3. Southland had the upper hand throughout, though the Auckland forwards had the better of the hneouts and scrums.

Tlie Sydney University team opened its New Zealand tour by playing Auckland University and winning by 20 to 9. The visitors played superlative football throughout, outplaying and outclassing Auckland.
