MONTHLY MEETING
The following business in addition to that already reported was transacted at yesterday’s meeting of the Nelson Education Board:—
GENERAL
It was decided to draw the l attention of the Department to the overcrowding of the ALalxana iSchool It was resolved to inform the Foxhill Committee, in reply to a request for the services of a probationer, that a probationer was not available. Consideration of .several letters from .School Committees in regard to the peace was deferred until next month. The complaint of a country committee in, regard to a teacher was referred. to the Chief Inspector. TEACHER,SHITS Applications for teocherships were dealt, with as follows: —Ariki, R. LMcNabb appointed ; Six Mile, Miss M. J. Dickson, recommended; Woodheb Bend, (3 applications), Mias A. G. Nap.; der appointed; Motueka, assistant (6 applications), name of Mis® Alice G. Lnblow to be forwarded to committee: Nelson Boys’, assistant (4' applications), Mis® D. W. Pitts’ name to be forwarded; da,’higher position (4 applications), name of Mis® C. M. Palmer to be for* wai’ded; do., higher position (8 applications), name of Mr. L, F. Gubb to .be sent to committee; Nelson £} iris’, assistant, Miss Widdoweon appointed; Gvanity, to be advertised again, no certificated applicant; Tapawera, assisttaut, to be advertised again; 'Motueka. .assistant secondary department, left to, Senior Inspector; Westport, assistant, secondary department (4 applications), Miss E. Woods, 8.A., to be offered the position; Nuggety Greek, sole teacher (5 apptication#i), najn© of Miss Vera Ferguson to be forwarded; Owen Junction, application® to be invited. RESIGNATIONS. The following .resignation® were received:—Mrs K. E. Kidson, assistant, Nelson Boys’;.Miss A. W. Gibbs, assistant, Murchison; Miss G. Tyrell-Baxter, sole teacher, Six Mile; Mias ft. F. Kar. sten, assistant, Nelson Boys’; Mis fe 0. J M. White, assistant, Nelson Boys’; Misg R. A, White, assistant, Nelson Girls’; Miss A. R. Baird, assistant, Nelson Boys’; Mis® A. Laird, head teacher, Wai-uta. Miss Laird retiring on superannuation, and the board decided to send her a letter thanking her for her services. APPOINTMENTS Appointments were dealt with ias follows:—Little Grey, head teacher, committee to be consulted in regard to the apointment -of Mr M, Flaherty; Hillside, sole teacher, Miss Dolambre; FoxhiU, assistant. Mis® E. A. King; Millerton. temporary second assistant, to be re-advertised; Murchison, assistant, Miss M. J. Harford. The board rose at 4.45 p.fn.
