WELLINGTON. May 26. The Minister'of Public Health states that, in consequence of reports -from Auckland and Wellington as ‘to the existence of something in the nature of a rat menace," the regulations gazetted , in 1911* to prevent drj check; the spread 6f plague to' he put in force. Steps are to be taken to secure rats tor examination, and Ifarjbour Roard- are « to be ddvised to destroy "rats in build inga on Wharves and to build ings rat-proof if passible. Masters... of ships will be renuired to. produce certificates that their ships have been subjected to an|i-rat fumigaTion within six months.
