HOKITIKA, May 1. Following the announcement of the Minister of Mines of intended fresh policy proposals for the revival of ( he mining industry, the Westland County Council ha* convened a county conference for May 14th and 15th to consider suggestions to place before the M'n.ster with regard to the festering and development of the goldmining industry in Westland. The Hon. W. ID. S. Mac Donald has accepted an invitation to attend the conference, and he will be accompanied on his visit to the Coast by Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P, There is considerable local interest in the coming conference, and delegate,, wifi bo present at it from all parts of the district to discuss varLiV with the Minister. 5 In addition to attending the conference, the Minitser will be asked to visit a new goldfield near Lake Kanieri and ,the Cedar Creek reefs. | The Ministerial visit is looKed forward to with great interest as I’kely to inaugurate important mining devel ]•- ments in jLhe immediate future.
