STOKE ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Stoke load Board was held on Saturday evening last, Present: Messrs A. P. Iport (Aairnian), T. Bl Chisnail, H. T. Palmer, and F. W. 0. Smith An ipoiogy was received from Mr. A. Ibsswill. .Mrs. John Best and family conveyed their ’acknowledgment of the resolution if condolence passed) by the board in n-'poct to the death of Mr John Best, formerly a member of the board. The Stoke Progressive Association vrote in respect to electric street lamps to -Stoke back road, and it was resolved to reply that the lights would o reinstated, but at the points origin- ■ I’v decided upon, as soon as the wires are extended. 'Mr Richards, fTahuna; applied) for oerniission to remove sand from banks on roadside for the purpose of filling lagoon where it encroaches on road.— " l 'ft matter was left in the hands of the members or the district and the overseer to arrange on certain conditions. With reference to certain- representations to the Minister of Public Works regarding the replacement of at Ore junction of Roding and Miner river* destroyed by flood, it was resolved that in the opinion bt the board s stock bridge, which the Minister offered to provide free of local contributions, oonHtionaUy upon same being acceptable in settlers, would meet the r-qulre-ments. The settlers interested endorsed this opinion. • Accounts amounting to £U Os were passed for payment.
