HEAVY WEATHER IN CANTERBURY.
RAILWAY XiN*ES BLOCKED.(United Press Association.) CfHRISTCHUIROH, July 3. r Rain continues steadily to-day. Reports from .North Canterbury state an improvement in conditions. The railway line is blocked in places with snowdrifts some four feet in depth. The Cheviot line is also blocked by a slip near Dometts The City is ■ still, isolated from the principal supply of electric current. Engineers of .Electrical Department have not yet got into communication with Lake Coleridge and there are no more hopes'of success than yesterday. The Chief- Engineer left this morning with a staff in a motor car to try and get to the Lake and arrange for a current to be sent through. ■ The weather shows only slight improvement this afternoon. The position in regard to telegraph lines is unchanged. .Repair gangs are finding difficulty with the work, owing to the condition of roads and the weather.
