It is understood that Britain will consent to the admission of food to Poland under the supervision of a neutral commission, conditional upon the AustroGermans not taking more native food supplies from occupied districts. BRITISH PROPOSALS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. Jury 28, 8.50 a.m.) ' LONDON, July 27. Viscount Grey, replying to the American's appeal that all belligerent governments should' arrive at an agreement for the relief of Poland, said it was the > British Government's desire to settlse once and for all the whole question ol the importations of foodstuffs to territory in occupation of the enemy. It would therefore make the following final proposal: The Germanic Governments must reserve wholly for the civil populations of these territories the entire produce of the soil, all live stock and foodstuffs and place the distribution and control in the hamds' of neutral nominees of President Wilson. The British; Government will then- admit imported food supplies to such territories to supplement the native stocks. This proposal, if accepted, must be carried out before the forthcoming harvest is gathered.
