FIRES AT CHRISTCHURCH
(United Press Association.) OHRISTCHTJRCH, July 1. A fire occurred this afternoon in a block of buildings occupied' by the- New Zealand Fanners' Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Lty. The outbreak was in a .portion' used by the association as a .bulk store, containing a. reserve stock of furniture, da-apery, etc. The fire was confined to the top- story, in w.hich lit originated, but the lower floors were drenched with water. It- is impossible to estimate the damage, which is. fully covered •by insurance. A lire broke out this afternoon, in the engine-shed at the Adding! on. railway workshops. It took an hour and a-half to subdue the flames. The shed was considerably damaged, 'the roof being .burned. It is not known yet what effect the damage -will have on the working of the shops on Monday.
