A junior partner insults this girl, and Crosby ls > about to punish him, when Miss Maximillian interferes and promises that the girl shall be safe in future; and } ha . two -irk become friendly. The unrest if the workers culminates m a big strike. Maximiliian, to show his contempt t« the strikers, holds a huge banquet. Uorin"-, the teast the strikers assault fci=> mansion. Crosby is injured. The junior partner, in a drunken condition, again annovs the tvpiste, and is ruined by tne -magnate as a punishment. Later ne abducts the daughter of Maxiniillian :n mistake for the typiste. A thunderstorm destroys the mansion, and the magnate is killed. Ruth, the daughter, t-heu takes the reins of financial government, ami deals oat justice. Her love stcry *s also woven through the play, and :s beautifully handled. . Motueka will bvisited to-night. To-morrow night a special programme has been* arranged, composed of subjects pertaining to the great war. The principal picture is entitled "The L:on s Cobs/' bv the London Film Company, who produced that memorable picture, "England's 3lenace." The entertainment will be under the patronage 01 the Nelson- Territorials and Cadets. Box plan now open. THEATRE ROYAL. PEOPLE'S PICTURES. i There was a far attendance of the public to witness the final screening of the current programme, which- included the first episode of the wonderful serial film, <-The Black Box.' ' For to-night a complete change will be submitted whoch contains some films of more than ordinary merit. The sta ritem is entitled "TbVlO O'clock Mystery." This picture is ful lof incident and sensation, the story of which is as follows: A poll; tician is possessed of secret document.? giving proof of nefarious financial transactions" by another politician.
