In connection -with the shooting of Americans in Mexico, the outrage is regarded as a .'reprisal by Villa's partisans and revenge against the United States for recognising Carranza, thereby making him all-powerful. The British Vice-Consul at Elpasa has obtained a statement that Villa personal--ly led the massacre party. An eyewitness, who escaped says that a party of 28 stopped and boarded a train and' lined : up the passengers oil the track, shot down 18, including a 'Canadian.' They then looted the train, obtaining £14.000. Other sources state that after Villa's a- revolution was threatened against the Americans. They then refuged, in the Sieramadre Mountains, awaiting an opportunity to carry out the threat
