HAWKE'S BAY SEAT. (United Phbss Association.) HASTINGS, Dec. 17. Dr. McNab was given an ovation by his supporters on his arrival from Wellington this evening. Admirers took the horses from the carriage that was awaiting him. and, amid great cheering, the vehicle, in which the doctor was -seated, was pulled through the town. From tlie balcony of his old committee rooms Dr. McNab delivered a tactful and generous speech. He could not say whether there would be another election or not, but he felt confident when Parliament met the leaders would be able to evolve a condition of things that would enable the business of the country to be carried on. He emphasised that administration could not be continued by any party that had not the confidence of the country. The returning officer is still with the, roll, apparentlv satisfying himself that everything is in order. seen late this evening he stated that he had no information for the press further than that he had to make his official declaration en Saturday.
WELLINGTON EAST. WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. Air McLaren has lodged an application for a magisterial recount of the votes polled in the Wellington East election. This Day. The Magistrate has ordered 'a recount in the. Wellington East election, to take place on Tuesday morning. WAIRAU. . BLENHEIM, Dec. 17. The final result for the Wairau seat is as follows :—McCallnm (L.) 3517, Duncan (R.) 3148, Turner 25. REFORM LEAGUE. DUNEDTN, Dec. 17. A meeting of supporters of the Reform partv in Dunedin and Port Chalmers was" held to-night, when it was unanimously decided to form a branch of the New Zealand Political Reform League A committee of 20 was appointed to go into various matters connected with the movement.
