MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly, repbrt'of the headmaster • of the Boys'' Central School showed nn average attendance of 91.2; seven pupils were admitted, and five -were -with drawn; the total on the roll being 529. Arising out of the report, it" was resolved, on tlie motion of Rev. J. H« MacKenzie, seconded by Mr Wimsett, that in every caso where a Btandard teacher is absent on account of sickness for more than three days, a medical certificate must be sent in.

Replies in roplyt to resolutions passed by the Committeo regarding the Education Board, were read from the Ministers of the Crown, and the member* for Mar.' borough. ' With vol'erencc to the proposed, referendum on hop-picking holidays, it was resolved, on the motion of * Air Stewart, seconded_ by Mr Wimsett, that iru. view of the infoi'mation. available, the* Committee at present proceed no further with tho proposal. Four tenders were received for spouting, etc., at the Boys' Central and Haven Road Schools, and it was resolved to forward same to 'Board., . with a * recommendation that tho lowest {Mr It.. McArtncy, £34 16s) bo accepted. ■ Tfc was also resolved that the Board's architect be asked to supervise tho work.

Accounts submitted wero paßsed for payment when funds aro available.

Tho report of the headmaster of tho G iris' Central School showed:—On./roll 691; average attendance 614.3; •percentage 89.5. Owing to wet days and sickness amongst younger children, the attendance was not Up to'the l average, but that, at the main school was satisfactory, reaching 92 per cent. Tho Committee then' adjourned. .
