In addition-to" the list of recently-ap-pointed Nelson Justices of the Peace, the "Gazette" conains the name of Mr Ivanhoe Tunnicliffe, of Wai-iti. Mr John Blakeney, editor of the Sydney "Freeman's Journal," died last week. For 30 years he was connected with the "Freeman's Journal," and was editor for the past 10 or 12 years. Mr. A. Aislabie, well-known in insurance circles, states that he will be a candidate for the Wellington Suburbs and Districts seat in the House of Representatives at the next general election in the interest! of the Liberal Party a Earl Grey arrived at'ChriatchuTch last night from and was welcomed by the deputy-Mayor and others an the station. -He will remain'at' Christchurch till Saturday. By request, no public functions are being held. Lord and Lady Grey, during their stay at ■ Christchurch, are to be , the guests of Mr and Mrs Arthur Rhodes.—Press Association. . ' * Presentations were made to, Bros. W. Moyes (treasurer) ?and A. N. Batchelor (secretary) at a largely-attended meeting of the- Loyal Howard Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., last night, as marks of appreciation of their long service to the lodge in their respective capacities;-ex-tending over .18 and 30 years respectively. P.P.G.M. H. Everett, of the Motueka District, made the presentations in an appropriate speech; and the recipients returned thanks. -. During the evening a presentation of a. P.G. diploma and sash wis made on behalf of the Mataki Lodge to P.G. Bro. V. Spiers. Several representatives of sister lodges were present. ' - ■ '
