Nelson chess players in general, and members of of the Nelson Chess Club in particular, will be pleased to hear that Mr G. F. Dodds, president of the Nelson Chess Club, has been awarded the brilliancy prize in connection with the Champion Chess Tournament held in Auckland during Christmas and New Year's holidays. This prize is awarded for the most brilliant game played during the Tournament. It is worthy of comment- that Mr Dodds won both the first and second brilliancy prizes at the champion contest held in Dunedin some years ago, so that he has not lost his old form. The other winners at the Auckland Tournament were: Rev. H. B. Wingfield, Auckland. 2nd; E. Hicks, Napier, 3rd; It. J. Barnes, Wellington, 4th and sth.
