THREAT TO CROSS THE BORDER

Mr Ghandi and other Indian leaders have written to Mr Smuts demanding the release of the passive resisters, and promising in the event of the demand being conceded, to advise the Indians to suspend their resistance. If the demand is refused they threaten to march across the Transvaal border on New Year's Dav.

He declared that the Indians were more than ever determined to resist the -Government. The meeting carried a resolution to renew passive resistance unless two additional members were appointed to the Inquiry Commisison and the imprisoned men were released.
