A number of workmen were overcoi by gas in a sewer at Bayswater. Firemen, with smoke helmets, rescued two, and bravely endeavoured to rescue a third, bat failed. The rescuers were repeatedly hurried to the surface unconscious, and two firemen, perished, - ' A fire at Beavey and Sons' foundry at Grey Xynn to-day caused damage of about,£6oo. The loss is covered by insurance in the South British Office.— , Press wire.
