It is stated that it is not- at all improbable that a lady candidate will come forward for the Nelson Mayoralty. The boring operations at Stoke being carried out by the Nelson Coalfields Co., Ltd., have been temporarily suspended, pending the arrival of additional plant from Australia. The New Zealand Shipping 'Company lias received a cable from Rio de Janeiro that the discharge of meat from the Turakina is proceeding satisfactorily.
