SHACKLETON FRAUD CASES
ACCUSED REMANDED. (Press Association.—Copyrighi.) (Rec. Feb. 14, 9.10 a.m.) LONLTSSn, ?eb. 13. Garlick (accountant) and Shackleton have been remanded on a charge of conspiracy to defraud Lord Ronald Gower of £40,000, Frank Hird of £6OOO, and Miss Browne of £12,000. Shackleton was committed for trial on a charge of misappropriating £ISOO. Counsel stated that Lord Gower was ruinecT after entrusting the management of his affairs to the defendants. Garlick, who was given power of attorney, sold Lord Grower's stock and credited him with shares in the International Financial Development Corporation, and paid him alleged dividends. He also acted similarly in other cases.
