NEW HIGH COMMISSIONER.
AN INTERVIEW AT DUNEDIN. (United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 5. The Dunedin Expansion League wait 1 ed on the Hon. T. Mackenzie thjs afternoon, and suggested to the High Commisioner that lie should do 'all in his power to forward the interests of in a legislative way, but not to thedisv advantages of other places. Mr Mackenzie, replying, said he had hoped to have a training college' established in Otago, but the negotiations had been broken off for a time. The League should devote itself to have some of the country in Central Otago regrassed Ly a great sdheme of irrigation. He said fruit could be landed in London in excellent condition, and he had :been told that it would fetch Is 6d per case more than Tasmanian fruit. The Panama Canal would shortly open, providing markets in the United States 'and Canada. He had cinematographic views taken of the dairy industry, cattle in pastures, etc., for the purpose of lectures to be given :"n different parts of England and Scotland.
