INVERCARGILL, April 18.
Sir .Joseph Ward arrived in Invercar?ill last nitrht, and was met _ by the Mayor, Councillors, and prominent citizens the reception being of the most cordial nature. On the journey south _ Sir. Joseph Ward was accorded enthusiastic receptions at Balclutlia, Gore, and Mataura, delivering 6hort addresses at the first and las 1 mentioned ' places. _ Sir Joseph will be in Invercargill till his departure for Australia on Monday, and in accordance with his desire , the banquet to be tendered to him by the citizens at Invercargill. Gore, and Bluff. will be held over till his return. In his reniark=\ at Balclutlia and Mataura Sir | ■To6ep)i Ward referred to the freedom I he npw enjoyed, and the pleasurable anticipation he had of rest and relaxation in Australia.
