MORE PROSECUTIONS.
FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS TERRITORIALS. (Unu'ed Pit ess Association.) NAPIER, This Day. Four youths were yesterday fined £1 and costs for failing to register under the Defence Act.. One of the defendants melodramatically declared : "I guilty, .but I have -ail -excuse. I vobject to joining the Territorials ibecause I believe compulsory 'military training to be unjust, un'beneftcial, arid unnecessary." His Worship said tlhat he was no judge of that. It was the law of the country, and it would have to he obeyed. Defendant said that rather- .than obey tlielaw he would leave the country. CONVICTIONS AT' PALMERSTON NORTH. PALfiVIERSTON N., This Day. ' L. E. Mexted was convicted and ordered to pay 'costs, 7s, - for failing to register for service required under the Defence Act. ; Joseph McAvenue, on a similar charge,' was fined 20s and costs. .
