NELSON BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
WAIMEA WARD. A general meeting of th e .Waimcr. Ward branch of the Nelson Beautifying Society was held in the Hampden-streel schoolroom last evening. Mr. F. V. Knapp presided. The chairman reported that Dr. Maikay had offered to prepare, plant, and keep in order a piece of ground running along the boundary of the MentaJ Hcsr pital. ground in Waimea-road, providir.jthe Society would fence in same; During a discussion on the result oi.. the planting done last season, the opinion was expressed that at least 75 per cent, of the trees and shrubs planted had ta Jten root and were doing well—a ver;, satisfactory result in. the circumstances. It was resolved that an endeavour be mado to have the water service ex ten dec to Piper's Park for the convenience ot picnicers. A working bee will be held on Thursday evening from 6 o'clock, the scene oi operations to be Kawai-stroet, where it i; proposed to clear th e ground planted last year.. Several matters relating to future work were referred to before the meeting ad journed.
